Still demand side economies of scale. Except that now you get these economies in infrastructure creation as well, not just in market activity.

For industries dominated by pipeline companies, such as the food supply chain and grocery stores, do you think they can shift straight from pipelines to protocols, or do you need the intermediary step of a platform?

Great article. Can't wait for insights into web3 business models which really is the big headache, not only for the organisations and contributors to decentralised/p2p platforms but also downstream models. It's hard to imagine p2p equivalents of twitter/instagram having ads which raises a huge question as to how marketing will evolve.
